Sofitel Alter Wall, Hamburg

From the former post office building in the centre of Hamburg a 5-star hotel with facilities for conferences and seminars was created.

In addition to making function visible, the design concept throughout the hotel is the play of opposites such as rich and poor, contrast and harmony and materials and proportion. So in the hotel lobby, one finds a deep-pile carpet against the polished floor. In the Reception area we combined cool, smooth fibre-cement with warm, grained nut wood and in the guest rooms placed pure felt next to shiny, polished surfaces of black marble.

With its 241 guest rooms and suites, as well as conference and banquet facilities, a modern, richly varied and pleasantly luxurious environment is offered, which will play an essential part in the guest’s recollection of the hotel.
